Marcian David (Matty) Bleahu, he was a geologist, speleologist, geographer, alpinist, explorer, writer, and politician, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, within the framework of the Department of Science Geonomice (28 October 2018). Marcian David Bleahu was born on march 14, 1924, in the city of Brasov, in a family of a notary public, but the descent on her mother's side, by the ruler Constantin Brancoveanu. He has served in the military during the Second World War.
He attended grade school and high school in the city of Brasov, romania. He graduated in 1949, the Faculty of Science (Departments of natural Science and Geography) from the University of Bucharest, romania. In 1974 he obtained his doctorate with a thesis on the geology and morphology of karst and caves, at the University of Cluj, romania.
In the years between 1949 and 1994, he worked as a geologist, a scientist, and in various management positions (including directors) of the Geological Institute of Romania.

Although better known as a geologist and caver, he had dabbled a little bit with rock climbing, being on the team that has made it the premiere of the Rift Petriu, from the Stone of the Altar, the Keys of Bicaz.
